A former tree surgeon and rope access technician progressing through the company ranks to become a contract manager working within the Rail Division at Fountain Forestry. After being made redundant from this position I was in a transition period and found employment within the leisure industry at Penrith Leisure Centre where I started my journey in a new industry as a casual member of staff. Within a couple of months I gained my lifeguard qualification and set my sights firmly on progression.
Within the first twelve months I kept my head down and worked hard and was rewarded with a trainee Duty Managers position then was offered the position on a permanent basis. Now I wanted more, so set my goal on running my own site. After a couple of years I was transferred to our Appleby site, which is a small centre with a pool and gym but boasts loads of character set in a idyllic location. I was luckily enough to be handed the reigns after a maternity leave and then interviewed for the Centre Managers position and promoted.
After the site was flooded in the winter of 2015 I was tasked with getting the site up and running again and found a new calling in the Repair and Maintenance, my enthusiasm and knowledge was duly noticed within GLL and moved back to our Penrith site to oversee the facility management on our three sites throughout our Eden Contract.
So after several years, working under three different leisure contract management companies I felt the time was right to move on and start a new challenge in life before it was too late. I have stayed within the leisure sector and have moved to Centre Parcs - Whinfell, where I trained to be a high ropes instructor within Outdoor Pursuits venue. In October 2018 I was fortunate enough to be interviewed and offered an Assistant Mangers position within Outdoor Pursuits at the Boathouse then onto Action Challenge where I oversee the commercial side of the department along side my Head of Department and my fellow Assistant Manager who oversees the Health & Safety.
In my spare time I love to spend time with my family, visiting new places around the UK and Europe. I am also an avid road cycle fan and love to head out and watch the various cycling tours around the UK. Any spare time I have left I get out on the roads around where I live in the lakes and take in the wonderful scenary the Lake District has to offer, there's no better way to take it than cycling around.
When we were allowed to keep it local in the COVID 19 Lockdowns we walked up Blencathra, our first Wainwright walk from here we decided as a family to start tackling the Wainwright walks, we have a good few under our belt but still have a long way to go.
